2026 Sussex Young Musician Competition
Three young musicians have been selected for the final which will take place during Coro Nuovo’s concert on Saturday 11 July 2026 at 7.00pm in St Wilfrid’s Church, Haywards Heath.

Dorothy Whyte-Venables is a soprano from Chidham. She is currently studying for a MMus at Trinity Laban Conservatoire.  From her early years as a Cathedral choral singer she has developed  into singing opera and solo  playing roles in Eugene Onegin, Cosi fan Tutte, Rake’s Progress and many others.  She has recently won with her duo partner the Elisabeth Schumann Lieder competition.Â
Edelyn Spina is a clarinettist from Chichester.  She has a place at the Royal College of Music later this year.  She enjoys both solo and ensemble playing and has already participated in a wide range of both chamber and solo clarinet opportunities. She has also formed the Martlet String quartet and Martlet Clarinet Quintet which has enabled her to play in many community events and festivals.Â
Juliet Beadle is a flautist from Hastings. She is currently undertaking a MMus at the Royal College of Music. During her BMus at Trinity Laban Conservatoire, she was awarded the 2025 Silver Medal from the Worshipful Company of Musicians and won the Harold Clarke Woodwind Competition. Juliet is an active orchestral and chamber musician. She also enjoys folk music in her trio, The Beadling.
