The final of Coro Nuovo’s inaugural Young Musician of the Year Competition was held on Sunday 17th July 2016. Four young musicians – all with a Sussex connection – competed for a £500 bursary to help with their musical studies. Hannah Corcoran was the competition winner, delighting the audience with her Fantaisie brillante sur Carmen by Francois Borne for saxophone.
Shown below are the participants – from left to right:
Rebekah Smith – soprano
Gideon Brooks – trumpet
Oliver Brooks – tuba and
Hannah Corcoran – saxophone (Competition Winner) with
Coro Nuovo President Dame Josephine Barstow DBE, and Music Director Andrew Rees.
After being selected as Coro Nuovo’s Young Musician of the Year, Hannah said: “Thank you ever so much, I feel very honoured to have been awarded it, especially as Rebekah, Gideon and Ollie all performed fantastically! I really do appreciate the support hugely. I would love to be involved with the choir as much as and in any way possible, please just let me know what I can do!”
